Mariella, a married mother of two, divides her time between daily chores and a volunteer job that leads her to read to elderly women. In a coastal town steeped in gossip and community rituals, she meets a man who awakens a silent and unexpected passion in her. Between furtive encounters and exchanges of unspoken words, a relationship of complicity and desire develops, contrasting with the monotony of her married life. Along a path of awareness and self-deception, Mariella reflects on the nature of desire, love, and the compromises necessary to maintain appearances in a closed and observant society. This short novel explores the fragility of human bonds, the limits of fidelity, and the need to find moments of authenticity in a life otherwise governed by social conventions.

She published "La Genìa," which received a mention at the Calvino Prize in 2005; and "I Viaggi di Giuditta - Una piccola isola scintillante" (Fioranna, 2022).
